Description
Moon milk tea is a soothing, naturally caffeine-free bedtime drink made with warm milk, butterfly pea tea, cinnamon, and honey. It turns a vibrant blue and can shift to purple with a few drops of lemon juice, so it feels extra calming and fun.
Ingredients
1 cup milk, dairy or plant-based
1 teaspoon butterfly pea tea, loose or 1 teabag
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon honey, or to taste
Instructions
1. Heat the milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until steaming but not boiling.
2. Add the butterfly pea tea and let it steep for about 3 to 5 minutes until the milk turns deep blue, then remove or strain the tea.
3. Stir in the cinnamon and honey until fully dissolved, adjusting sweetness if needed.
4. Froth or whisk the milk if a foamy texture is desired.
5. Pour into a mug and optionally sprinkle a little cinnamon on top before serving.
Notes
Add a small amount of dried lavender while steeping for extra calming flavor.
Use coconut milk for a richer, creamier consistency with a light tropical taste.
Serve over ice or use cold frothed milk for a chilled version.
A few drops of lemon juice will shift the color from blue to purple.
Top with edible rose petals for added aroma and presentation.
Optional additions such as turmeric, ashwagandha, or reishi can provide earthy flavor and adaptogenic benefits.
